Full Time Racers Needed

It’s a shame that the option of a Supercross only contract has fixed itself into the sport. Supercross is hands down a major aspect of dirt bike racing today, and it even rolls over the outdoor nationals as far as viewer numbers goes, but the fact of the matter is that each and every one of the professional riders in the sport today grew their roots in the tilled dirt of the outdoor nationals. This is where all of the main riders today proved themselves some years ago. It is a sad reality that some of motocross’s big names were persuaded by money to take the summers off, and not only sit out of the racing but also loose a large majority of their base at the same time. Notice that than one man that holds the title of the Greatest Of All Time always took his racing not only to the Supercross tracks but also made his mark on the outdoor circuit until the day of his retirement.

James Stewart was supposed to be the next untouchable force on the track, and until his L&M, ride that seemed to be true. After “Bubba” opted the Motocross Nationals in 2009, it has been a downhill spiral to the current point of his career. He has put himself in the position for criticism with the fans who now look at him as a slacker. He topped things off when he agreed to do a cheesy reality show about his new role as a professional relaxer. If James Stewart or any other racer thinks that they can race an indoor, man made track for a few months and then take the rest of the year off, they may have a nice pay check but they will not be racing for the win week after week.  Maybe after #7, this will be the last of the part time racers.
